World Book Day

Merlin's Magical Creatures

Hope you have all had a fantastic half term and are looking forward to our new topic, 'Merlin's Magical Creatures'.   We will be starting the topic with something fun and exciting which will help you to create your own magical creature. Some of you may have already been thinking about this and have some wierd and wonderful ideas to bring into class with you next Tuesday.  Don't forget to find out if there are any mythical stories linked to the area where you live!

Coedpenmaen Gallery Success

Last night, we witnessed a wealth of talent in Beech, Willow and Oak classes when parents came to view the amazing artwork that they had created as part of their gallery project. We were fortunate to be inspired by two visiting artists and pupils studied a wide range of art using their literacy and numeracy skills. Most paintings were sold and we thank all parents who supported this event ! Again, we are proud of our pupils' achievements. Thank you also to the teachers for working hard to help the pupils set this gallery up.

Happy New Year to you all!  Hope you all had a lovely Christmas break and are looking forward to returning to school and starting our new topic 'Gallery'.

This project has an art focus and explores different styles of art used by Welsh artists. You will develop art skills through planning, making decisions and using a range of materials.

To show off your masterpiece, we will be opening our own art gallery to exhibit all the work completed by year 5 and 6.

Don't forget, we are visiting the National Museum of Cardiff on Friday for us to see a professional art exhibition.

We will also be taking a trip out into the locality in week two to gather ideas for our artwork. (Parent support would be kindly appreciated for this trip)

P.E - We are back to our normal days for P.E now that swimming for our class has ended.
Monday - indoor P.E ( remember to wear shorts under your joggers or leggings for girls)
Friday - outdoor P.E ( Joggers and trainers please, in school colours only)

Children In Need 2014

Our learning squad have been very busy planning another exciting fundraising day.

The theme is "Superheroes."

Children are invited to wear superhero costumes or pyjamas/onsies.

We are challenging everyone (including teachers) to find as much spare change around the house as they can. Look down the side of the sofa and in drawers.

Years 5 and 6 will be setting up their own stalls as part of their enterprise project.

All pupils in school will have a chance to visit the stalls to spend their pennies on face paints, nail varnish, games, lucky dips, bring and buy etc...

Please let us know if you do not want your child to have any face painting,  nail varnish or coloured hairspray.

We are looking forward to a fun Pudsey day and thank you for your support
